Firefly Credit Union’s (Firefly) board of directors is searching for its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace its longtime legacy CEO.  This financially sound credit union is seeking someone who will strategically guide the organization toward their vision within the context of their mission.  The CEO will serve as a foundational leader to broadcast and embody the brand and organizational presence regionally and nationally. The CEO is responsible for creating and enhancing the culture that adds value to the members and is in a strategic partnership with an engaged and high-performing board.

The CEO is accountable for the overall operation and performance of the credit union.  Serious candidates will demonstrate expertise and experience in creating a vision and operational plan that aligns with the relevant brand with the ability to leverage the credit union resources for the future.  Your ability to demonstrate cross-functional expertise and lead a high-performing leadership team with competence in financial management, enterprise risk management, strategic use of technology, strategic credit, investment portfolio expertise, and strategic brand and marketing is a plus.  This position will plan and direct negotiations pertaining to mergers, joint ventures, purchase or sale of assets, and thoughtfully manage risk. The CEO will also stretch the potential of the executive team as a coach-facilitator, supporter, and influencer.

We need to see at least ten years of executive experience leading within a retail banking organization with similar or greater complexity.  A graduate degree in business is preferred. More important is the demonstration of ongoing education and certifications relevant to a financial institution leadership.  The CEO will need to develop positive relationships with the board of directors, regulators and examiners, members, employees, and demonstrate an interest in developing industry relationships.  Compensation and benefits are competitive.

Burnsville, MN is located in Dakota County, Minnesota with a population of 60,300 lying on the south bank of the Minnesota River.  Burnsville and nearby suburbs form the southern portion of Minneapolis/St. Paul and is located 15 miles south of downtown Minneapolis.  Firefly has been serving the community since 1925.

The credit union has 263 employees, 16 branches, and has a beautiful headquarters overlooking the water.

Bremerton is located in Kitsap County, Washington with a population of 40,500.  KCU is located adjacent to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Naval Base.  The credit union started in 1934 within the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as the Navy Yard Metal Trades Credit Union.   Cosmopolitan Seattle is easily accessible via ferry, and the waterfront Marina is a hub of eateries, shops, concerts, and historic sites.  

Serious candidates will demonstrate expertise and experience in leading positive change to support a culture of sustainability, effective execution, competitive readiness, and agility and adaptability to best serve the members with both fiscal responsibility and relevant services.  We need to see at least ten years of executive experience leading within an organization with similar or greater complexity and a master’s degree with a demonstration of on-going education and certifications relevant to a financial institution. Your ability to demonstrate visioning, creativity, strategic planning, budget and capital allocation plans, as well as strong community relationships is a plus.

Keys Federal Credit Union is seeking a CEO to lead them toward new opportunities. Originally founded to serve the Naval Base and Air Station, the credit union now operates with a community charter and serves all residents in the long Florida Keys.  While the Keys were particularly hard-hit by the mortgage crisis and had a long road to recovery, the organization is now oriented toward possibilities.

The CEO is the steward of the credit union’s strategic plan and it’s critically important continuity.  The board focuses on approving and monitoring the strategic plan and expects the CEO to manage the credit union operations.    Involving the Board as needed is essential in maintaining a strong and sustainable two-way communication path.

Community relationships are foundational to the credit union’s success, and the CEO is the face of the credit union.  The CEO is expected to be capable, willing, and engaged in the relentless pursuit of nurturing relationships internal to the credit union and in the communities serviced.  The credit union has a 77-year history and the town started as a military town.  Building relationships with the commanding officer of the base, conducting social interactions in the community, and community leadership roles are key parts of the CEO role.

The successful candidate will bring strong and diverse communication skills to interact effectively with varied constituents.   An open and inviting presence will build trusting relationships and be readily approachable by all constituents.  The CEO must be able to process inputs quickly and develop a coherent strategy, support the application of that strategy into tactics and provide coaching of the key leaders in the credit union to take on the successful management and implementation of the strategic plan.  Organization results will come from mapping the new future, strong planning, effective motivation and leadership of the team, building motivation and strong community and customer relationships.  A bachelor’s degree, experience in consumer financial organizations, strength in finance, and solid working knowledge of marketing and operations are expected.
