Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) is conducting a nationwide search for its next chief executive officer (CEO). CUES was founded in 1962 on the principle of “cooperation among cooperatives” for credit unions and their leaders. They have since grown into an organization dedicated to providing professionals in the credit union movement with resources for their professional development needs. They proudly partner with over 1,100 credit unions and over 10,0000 members across the United States and Canada. 

This CEO will proactively partner with the board of directors on vision, mission, and strategy while creating, monitoring, and managing strategic alignment. This role requires an energetic, engaging, forward-thinking leader to ensure the organization is ready to meet tomorrow’s needs with enthusiasm and passion. The CEO will proactively engage within the credit union industry to optimize opportunities and cultivate relationships. An essential part of the role is serving as a stable, foundational leader to broadcast and embody the organization’s brand and presence through industry events, speaking engagements, and panel discussions. Building and maintaining solid relationships with the business solution partners and suppliers is also critical to the success of the CEO. 

The CEO role requires: 

  • Demonstrating leadership in strategic planning, growth strategies, visioning, operating and capital budgets, and organizational and operational oversight
  • Proactively driving a diverse culture, coaching, and leading a leadership team to maintain a positive working environment
  • Demonstrating proactive engagement in the credit union movement
  • Understanding and building relationships with the board of directors

  • Proven experience in developing relationships within the industry
  • Employee development and mentoring expertise
  • Ability and competency as the CUES ambassador to align the external brand with the internal culture
  • Proven ability to collaborate with the board of directors, management, staff, and members
  • Willingness to work remotely and travel as needed
