Developing strategies and visions and moving them into action is the main focus of the chief strategy officer (CSO). The CSO role at Lake Trust Credit Union (Lake Trust) is newly created, and will join an executive team and credit union that are passionate about helping others thrive and practice mission-first thinking.
Lake Trust is certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and is dedicated to reinvesting in underserved neighborhoods to create more opportunities that promote vibrant communities and financial security. This is critical for the credit union, and the CSO will embrace and utilize it to build toward the future. The CSO will drive futuristic and strategic visioning, thinking, and planning, including business development, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, advocacy on a national and community level, and branching into new businesses. The CSO is responsible for co-creating the company’s vision, facilitating alignment on strategic initiatives, communicating the plan with all involved, executing the business initiatives, and sustaining implementation efforts. The CSO goes beyond strategic planning and has the presence and influence to make strategy happen.
The ideal CSO is a seasoned executive with a solid strategic orientation who has led significant initiatives or businesses and has worn many operating hats. The CSO will oversee marketing/branding, mergers and acquisitions, external partnerships, external board relationships/positions, consulting services, governmental affairs, advocacy, and trade associations. Additionally, the CSO will build and foster relationships with CUSOs, fintechs, and other business development opportunities.
