Searching for a top-tier director of accounting (DofA) for a progressive credit union. This is a new role for an aggressive credit union. Kitsap Credit Union (KCU) has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Accounting (DofA) role. The DofA will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for KCU’s accounting functions and will oversee all aspects of financial statements and regulatory reporting.

This person will ensure the accounting function’s ability to support operational excellence and growth. This role will develop and maintain reliable accounting information on income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and capital as a basis for management planning and decision-making and the fulfillment of financial reporting documents.

The DofA leads all aspects of accounting, including financial reporting, Call Report/5300 regulatory reporting, tax compliance, accounts payable, loan loss accounting, investment accounting, derivatives, fixed assets, and Chart of Accounts. You will also be responsible for general ledger reconciliation, analysis of financial accounts, journal entries preparation, closing and producing monthly financial reconciliations, and assisting with the preparation of various management reports. You will coordinate credit union accounting activities to ensure timely processing of all financial information and develop and implement policies to streamline credit union accounting procedures. KCU is looking for someone who will implement new accounting pronouncements, comply with regulatory accounting requirements, and maintain a strong internal controls system, process optimization, and documentation of procedures.

The DofA ensures accounting records and reports comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ensures regular reporting to management on accounting activities. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous process improvement. You will provide leadership and training to develop and encourage staff performance while establishing succession plans and a career development culture.

Qualified candidates need a bachelors’ degree in business administration, accounting, related field, or equivalent experience required. Experience in a bank or credit union preferred. This position will supervise others.
