Kitsap Credit Union (KCU), a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative dedicated to serving its communities, invites you to apply for a position on the Supervisory Committee (SC). The Supervisory Committee is responsible for ensuring the Board of Directors and management of the Credit Union meet required financial reporting objectives and establish practices and procedures sufficient to safeguard members’ assets. The Committee ensures Kitsap Credit Union’s accounting records and financial reports are promptly prepared and accurately reflect operations. These reports need to confirm policies and control procedures are sufficiently safeguarded against error, conflict of interest, self-dealing, and fraud. To assist in performing the responsibilities, the Committee oversees the Internal Audit Department and external auditors.
We are seeking applicants with strong leadership skills as well as business skills in either audit, risk management, information technology/cybersecurity, business finance, human resources, and/or legal compliance. Candidates must have the ability to understand and analyze financial statements, communicate with the Internal Audit Department regarding the audit function, and express opinions succinctly. This person needs to have the ability to ask difficult questions and have the ability to demonstrate confidentiality at all times. An effective Committee member must have a passion for learning about the ever-changing financial institution industry.
This position will provide a valuable opportunity to play an integral oversight role at Kitsap Credit Union, which means there will be a time commitment of approximately 20 to 30 hours per month. This person will be responsible for being a key voice in the Supervisory Committee’s monthly meetings (held during business hours), attending Kitsap Credit Union’s events, completing continuing education requirements, and attending industry-related conference(s) annually. Committee members are expected to participate in Committee Chair and Secretary leadership rotations; additionally, SC members must be proficient with technology, such as Microsoft Office, and willing to learn other programs used by the Committee for training and Kitsap Credit Union business.
To be considered for the position, the candidate must, in addition to the understanding noted above:
- Live and/or work in Washington State.
- Be a member of Kitsap Credit Union, or willing and able to become a member.
- Be bondable by our surety bond company.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Not be a current or past (over the previous three years) Kitsap Credit Union employee or employee family member.
