Rutland, VT — Heritage Family Credit Union has selected David Walters to serve as Chief Lending Officer.
He was placed by DDJ Myers, the well-known executive search and leadership development firm.
“We’re thrilled to welcome David to the Heritage Family Credit Union team,” says Chris Gomez, Chief Executive Officer. “His deep industry knowledge, lending leadership, and expertise will help us provide affordable, high-quality loans to more members, helping families prosper across the communities we serve.”
Walters brings more than 20 years of credit union lending and leadership experience to his new role, providing him with a broad perspective on lending strategy, credit risk, operations, and member relationships.
Prior to joining Heritage Family, Walters served as Chief Lending Officer for 4Front Credit Union. He also previously served as Vice President of Lending at Blaze Credit Union. Throughout his career, Walters has focused on building strong lending organizations that combine sustainable growth with sound credit quality, operational discipline, innovation, and a strong commitment to member financial well-being.
“I’m very excited to join Heritage Family Credit Union and become part of an organization with such a strong commitment to its members and the communities it serves,” says Walters. “There is already a very strong foundation here, which I’m looking forward to building on with the team. Together, I’m confident we will enhance our lending capabilities and create even greater value for our members.”
Walters earned both his Master of Arts in Organizational Management and Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Ashford University. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Walters enjoys outdoor activities, working out, riding bikes, and hiking. He and his wife like traveling to warm sandy beaches, walking their 2 dogs, and spending time with their kids. David is also passionate about giving back to the communities served by credit unions and supporting the financial well-being of members and their families.
“Working with DDJ Myers was an excellent experience. Their team brought a thoughtful, structured approach to the process while taking the time to understand both my background and what I was looking for in my next leadership opportunity. They were professional, communicative, and supportive throughout the process, and I appreciated their commitment to making sure there was a strong fit between Heritage Family Credit Union and me. I’m grateful for their guidance and partnership in helping bring this opportunity together,” says Walters.
