Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union recently announced John Merritt as their new Chief Information Officer. John has spent the past 22 years at Enrichment Federal Credit Union in Tennessee, most recently as Chief Strategy Officer. After just a short time in the position at Bayer Heritage, both John and CEO Bob Burrow had similar thoughts when asked about the transition.

John says, “I’m very excited about my new role as Chief Information Officer with Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union. I will be overseeing the Information Technology/Services Organization, Card Processing, Project Management, and driving overall Organizational Strategy. I see many new challenges for us and great opportunities in those challenges. Bayer Heritage’s geographic footprint is new for me, which is great – it pushes me to get outside my comfort zone a little bit! The Bayer Heritage team has been fantastic to work with throughout the entire process; very welcoming and accommodating. I look forward to working with the Bayer TEAM to advance the Credit Union and execute on those opportunities.”

Bob Burrow, CEO, shares, “I am extremely excited to announce the addition of John Merritt to the Bayer Heritage FCU team! John is our new CIO and brings a wealth of experience that we know will take us to the next level as we respond to the increasing information technology demands when delivering exceptional CU service. He has already become part of the “BHFCU family,” and we couldn’t be happier!”

Client Kindness Thoughts from John Merritt

“My experience with DDJ Myers was great. I reached out to them about the Bayer Heritage opportunity and initially, worked with Leah Gazaway to understand Bayer’s requirements and needs. At the time, due to my location, we didn’t think that I was an ideal fit for the opportunity. I made it known to Leah that I had a strong interest in the position if Bayer was willing to work in a hybrid, primarily remote, role. Leah and I remained in contact over the following couple of months. A little over two months later, Leah reached out to me, letting me know that Bayer was open to the type of arrangement that I really needed, and I conveyed my strong interest. From there, the process moved quickly. Leah and I had a couple of further in-depth interviews, and a short time later, I interviewed with Deedee, followed by a virtual interview with the Bayer Heritage team. Then, working around holiday schedules, I went onsite to spend the day with the Bayer Heritage team. Just a few short days later, I was offered the position. Deedee, Leah, and Dorothy were very professional and fantastic to work with throughout this process.”
